Despite initially announcing a camping ban in eight national forests located in California through January 6, Region 5 of the United States Forest Service States ( USFS ), which comprises the state, extended said ban until January 19 added four more forests for a total of 12.
The so-called USFS Region 5 announced the prohibition of camping in the national forests last December when the restrictions in the state were again intensified, but initially it had contemplated it until last January 6.

However, the agency decided to extend it due to the persistent conditions of spread of the coronavirus in the state.
” This order is to protect USFS visitors and employees to reduce possible exposure to COVID – 19 ”, assures a statement from the federal agency.
The measure affects 11 forests along The territory of California in those areas where the order to stay at home and a curfew are maintained due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 12 National Forests that do not allow to install camps are currently:
Los Angeles National Forest
San Bernardino National Forest
Cleveland National Forest
Eldorado National Forest Inyo National Forest
Los Padres National Forest
Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit
Plumas National Forest
Sequoia National Forest
Sierra National Forest Stanislaus Na tional Forest
Tahoe National Forest
Despite the restriction to camp in any of these 12 national forests located in California, their day use if allowed .
