The businessman Roman Abramovich has finally been sanctioned, as have a few other Russian oligarchs based in the United Kingdom, by the British government. The decision to freeze all the assets of these businessmen, whom the executive of Boris Johnson considers the president to be especially close Vladimir Putin , has become effective this Thursday morning.
As regards the still owner of Chelsea, the process of selling the football club has been directly paralyzed. Last week, and as a result of information pointing in that direction, Abramovich tried to find buyers in order to get rid of the entity as soon as possible. A Swiss businessman revealed that he had been contacted by the tycoon, like three other investors of American nationality, but that Abramovich’s financial claims were too high.
Unfortunately for him, the blockade by the British authorities has arrived very early and, in this way, will have to suffer the heavy economic blow of having a football team that cannot generate enough income
“We know that this generates a lot of uncertainty, but the government will work with the league clubs so that the sanctions only affect those to which they are directed, so that they are keep playing football. Our clubs are cultural assets and one of the pillars of our community. We are committed to their protection”, Dorries wrote on his Twitter account to try to reassure the fans of the current European champion.
For its part, the club sent a statement to confirm that they have a license from the UK government to operate in certain activities, so will comply with their matches that they have at the door , against the Norwich and the West Ham United, in the male and female categories, respectively.
