The Qatari Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, showed his anger at the referees’ decision not to point out a foul by Karim Benzema on the Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma in Real’s 1-1 Madrid, which was the start of the white team’s comeback, tried to enter the referees’ locker room and broke an assistant’s flag , as reflected by the main referee, the Dutchman Danny Makkelie, in the minutes of the match.
“After the match, the president and sports director -Leonardo- of PSG showed aggressive behavior and tried to enter the referees’ locker room. They deliberately blocked the door and the president, hit the flag of one of the attendees, breaking it”, the referee wrote.
Al-Khelaïfi already went down to the referees’ locker room after the first leg to ask for explanations, but this Wednesday the tension rose when PSG’s elimination from the knockout stages of the Champions League was confirmed.
As EFE learned from Real Madrid sources present on the scene, the Qatari came down “screaming” and threatened an employee of the white group shouting “I’m going to kill you” for recording said moment, which will be analyzed by UEFA after asking Real Madrid for the video of the moment.
An Al-Khelaïfi who, according to these sources, was calmed down by his own bodyguards. But it was also Leonardo who showed his anger and, shouting, demanded to erase the images from the mobile, who fell to the ground in the brawl.
