49ers fan came out of medically induced coma 5 weeks after being injured in altercation outside SoFi Stadium

After more than 5 weeks of being seriously injured in a fight outside SoFi Stadium, a San Francisco fan 49ers who underwent surgery on the skull came out of an induced coma medically, a family spokesman reported this Wednesday.

Daniel Luna, of 40 years and fan of the 49ers, remains hospitalized, but it is expected that in the course of this month he may be discharged to start physical rehabilitation.

“He remains significantly disabled from the attack on him at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, but he hopes to return to his restaurant one day and cook for all of his wonderful customers,” said the rep for the family in a statement to ABC.

Luna owns a restaurant in Oakland, with plans to reopen its doors in the next weeks, where his wife also works as a hostess.

The fan was hospitalized on January 33 at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center after he pushed a man from behind and was then punched. Luna fell and hit her head on the ground in the NFC championship game between 49ers and Los Angeles Rams, authorities said after reviewing surveillance camera video.

For several days, police searched for the man who attacked Luna with the information of a blurred video and the license plate of a car in a stadium parking lot.

On February 4 when they reported the arrest of Los Angeles resident Bryan Alexis Cifuentes-Rossell of 33 years, for investigation of assault with means to cause serious bodily harm, and was released after the payment of a deposit of 16,000 Dollars.

Inglewood Mayor James Thurman Butts Jr., who saw the video, said Luna was among a group of 16 people, most of them with what looked like t-shirts from the 49ers, when he pushed a man in a Rams jersey from behind.

When Luna turned to walk away, the subject pushed him back and punched him in the mouth, so the fan of 40ers fell to the ground and hit the back of the head , according to the mayor, and mentioned that the altercation lasted less than 5 seconds.

Relatives of Luna thanked the paramedics who treated him in the SoFi Stadium parking lot, as well as the authorities who investigated the case. o.

To treat his injuries, Luna had to undergo a hemicraniectomy right , which is very delicate because they have to remove part of the skull to relieve pressure on the brain, according to lawyer Jonathan Davis told ABC.
