According to the images recorded and broadcast on social networks, dressed in military uniform, Lesya Filimonova and Valeriy Filimonov were married in Kiev last Sunday, flanked by soldiers armed with grenades and missiles and journalists in bulletproof vests, according to reported the Washington Post.
The emotional nuptials took place held at a checkpoint on the side of a busy highway in the midst of Russia’s bloody invasion of Ukraine, as seen in the video that quickly became a trend.
The bride wore a veil with her camouflage, the groom a military helmet and both wore yellow bracelets that designated as members of the Ukrainian Territorial Defense Forces.
