At least nine people, including two children, were killed in a Russian attack on residential buildings in the city of Sumy, in northeastern Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian State Emergency Service.
Russian aircraft “insidiously attacked houses” in the city near the 10.00, local time (21.00 GMT), indicated the state agency, according to which rescue teams pulled nine dead people out of the rubble, including two children.
The head of the Sumy regional state administration, Dmitro Zhyvytskyy, noted in his account Telegram that Russian planes dropped bombs on the city and the di district, in residential areas.

In total, eight people had to be evacuated in the fires, of which the rescuers managed to pull five out of the rubble, who were taken to nearby hospitals.

Humanitarian evacuation corridor opens

“No other route has been agreed upon”, stressed Vereshchuk, who maintained that the opening of the heart for Sumy has been notified by the Russian Ministry of Defense to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and that there is “documentary evidence” of this decision.
Ukraine subsequently informed the Red Cross and Russia that it accepted the opening of the humanitarian corridor for the city, he added.
According to what he said, the first column of humanitarian convoys were due to start leaving Sumy at 11.00 local time (08. GMT) and would be followed by civilians who choose to take their own car to leave the city.
The Ukrainian authorities intend evacuate together with the citizens of Sumy foreign students to the town of Poltava, in particular young people from India and China, according to the UNIAN agency.
The Deputy Prime Minister also reported that Ukraine presented Russia and to the ICRC routes for humanitarian corridors in the cities is from Kiev, Chernigov, Kharkiv, Mariupol and Volnovakha.
The advisor to the Office of the Ukrainian President, Mykhailo Podolyak, pointed out in his Telegram account that this is a new attempt to establish humanitarian corridors after of three frustrated evacuations due to non-compliance with the ceasefire, for which both parties blame each other.
