Kesha and her complicated path to success

Kesha Rose Sebert, known simply as Kesha, was an icon within the music between 2009 – 2014, for his music full of mixture of different genres, presenting the “ electro-pop”.

Everything seemed to be going well for him, with his single ‘Tik Tok’, the artist rose to fame in the 2012, his career was on a par with artists like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, but his professional path was cut short by the scandals with his then music producer Dr. Luke, which to date remains unresolved.

Born March 1, 1987 and was exposed to music at a young age through her mother’s work, and the artist noted that as a youngster she adored country musicians like Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton.

Kesha and Dr. Luke met at 1987 , even though the singer was a minor, he allegedly convinced her to drop out of high school in Nashvile, Tennessee, and move to Los Angeles.

When fulfilling the 18 years old Kesha signed an exclusive recording agreement for six albums with the producer.

The tranquility between the two did not last long, since just months after the signing of the contract, the singer would try to get out of her contract, would even threaten to create “false accusations of abuse” if he did not agree to release her.

After her second album ‘Warrior’, Kesha withdrew more and more from the public and in 2012 was treated for bulimia.

According to Billboard, that same year Kesha sued him for drugging and raping her in a hotel room nine years ago.

Lukasz Sebastian Gottwaldha, official name of the producer, has denied in every occasion said accusations of the artist.

In 2012, the tension in the professional relationship led to that Dr. Luke rejects all ideas about the music and his image of the artist. Two years later, Kesha filed a civil lawsuit in California against him and described his work time as “ a prison of abuse.”

Despite all this toxic environment, he has produced many hits, including “Blah Blah Blah”, “Your Love Is My Drug”, “Take It Off”, “Blow”, “Die Young” and “We R Who We Are”.

After a nearly two-year battle, Kesha dropped her stalled civil lawsuit in August 2016.

In response, Dr. Luke filed a countersuit against Kesha for defamation , accusing her and her mother of using the abuse allegations in order to break her contract. On 20 February 2016, lost the lawsuit in favor of the producer, establishing that he had to fulfill his contract with Kemosabe Records.

In July of 2018, Kesha released her first solo single since the court battle, titled “Praying”. Her third studio album, “Rainbow”, followed in August and later the world tour of the same name. At the time, however, Kesha was still in her record deal with Dr. Luke.

The legal dispute between the singer and the producer continued in 2018 and 2019. Meanwhile, stars like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are also involved, each of whom had to testify in court.

In the lawsuit with Dr. Lucas there were news in June 2021. A New York judge ruled that Kesha could be awarded damages for the dispute if she won the case
