Users with the iOS operating system have the possibility of adding a new layer of security to their communications when using WhatsApp. This is possible thanks to the iPhone’s own functions such as its biometric recognition systems called Face ID and Touch ID.
Thanks to these security systems the user can easily block third parties from accessing their conversations without having the corresponding authorization, something that in some countries can constitute a crime.
These possible security gaps are resolved by integrating Apple’s biometric systems with the instant messaging application.
Here we explain how you can increase the security of WhatsApp if you have an Apple phone:
Step 1
To activate the extra security functions, it is necessary to enter the application and go to the WhatsApp configuration menu. To do this, it is necessary to press the three vertical dots located in the upper right part of the screen.
Later it is necessary to press the last identified button in the list as “settings”.
Step 2
This will take the user to the main screen of the WhatsApp settings menu. At this moment it is necessary to enter the first of the six options that are shown on the screen which is identified as “account”. This is the section where you can configure the privacy and security options, as well as change the phone number associated with the account.
Step 3
In this new screen the user must slide until reaching the end of the menu, in that moment you will be able to see two options identified as Face ID and Touch ID which you can select by clicking on them.
Step 4
Once this is done the system will request the activation time, this can be configured so that the application requests security access in intervals that can range from 1 minute to 1 hour. In the same way, it can be selected that its activation be immediate if required. After completing all these steps, the system will request that the user enter either their fingerprint or show their face to the camera in order to access WhatsApp.
