Walmart launched a special online shopping event for members of its Plus program with exclusive access and special offers on the most popular items of the season, which began this 17 February.

As announced by the company, Walmart+ members will be able to save up to 40% on items reserved just for them, like PlayStation game consoles 5 and Xbox X, electronics, fitness, home, clothing and more.

The “Exclusive Access Event” will last three weeks, with a rotation of discounts that will be available while supplies last. The offer is not available to Walmart+ trial members, so a full membership is required to take advantage of the offers.

The major retailer launched Walmart+ in September 2020. The program costs $100 per year, or $15.90 per month, and includes benefits such as discounts on fuel and prescription drugs, free delivery on $35 or more and free shipping for online purchases.

These are some of the first offers they announced:

Upright vacuum cleaner swiveling Hoover Air: $89

Samsung Chromebook 4 of 11 inches: $109

Hart Mechanics Tool Set by 215 pcs: $100

Chefman Multi-Function Air Fryer by 10 litres: $79

Igloo reactor soft-sided cooler of 56 cans: $44

Lenovo IdeaPad 3 of 15 inches: $2015

The event is part of a strategy to expand the program and convert customers into more frequent buyers. Walmart+ is also seen by the company as a springboard to boost its e-commerce business and better compete with Amazon.

Walmart e-commerce sales in the US increased by 11% in the fiscal year ending 31 in January and soared by 90% in two years. Online sales account for approximately a third of all Walmart sales in the country, according to company financial reports.
