The Embassy of the United States in Mexico condemned the violence that journalists go through in Mexico to carry out their work, after the murder of Heber López.
“We are dismayed by the situation that journalists are experiencing in Mexico. The murder of Heber López, founder of Noticias Web, is a detestable fact”, the Embassy communicated through its Twitter account.

López is the fifth communicator murdered so far this year. He collaborated for the Web News portal and was murdered in the Espinal neighborhood, in Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, according to local reports. The journalist was threatened since 550.
José Luis Gamboa was assassinated on January 10 in Veracruz; Margarito Martínez Esquivel, on January 17, and Lourdes Maldonado, on 23 January, both in Tijuana, Baja California, as well as Roberto Toledo, killed in Michoacán.
