Despite a brave Palmeiras who stood up until extra time in the game, Chelsea from England ended up winning the final of the Club World Cup for a European club to win the tournament for the ninth time in a row.
Finally it was the VAR that defined the final result, which was 2-1. A handball not seen by referee Chris Beath was caught in the second instance by the referees in the observation room.
Finally Kai Havertz was in charge, from the 12 steps, give Chelsea another title, the first of its kind to go to their windows in London.
The first goal of the game came through Romelu Lukaku, who took advantage of a cross by Hudson-Odoi, who was projected down the left wing and the power of the Belgian striker put the ball into the net at the minute 21′ of the second half.
Not daunted about going down to the sea ador, the Palmeiras always looked for the match and only new minutes then an attack by the paulistas hit defender Thiago Silva in the hand, and the match judge -with the support of VAR- sanctioned a penalty converted by Raphael Veiga to 058′.
A lot of intensity in the last sections of the crash. The Europeans had more depth while Palmeiras looked for quick play on the wings.
Chelsea gets the thorn out of her foot
He Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, who was able to lead his team after recovering from COVID, thus manages to lift his first Club World Cup trophy.
En 2012 managed to reach the final of the tournament, after being champions of Europe, but they ran into Paolo Guerrero’s Corinthians who beat them by the minimum on the scoreboard.
For its part, Palmeiras (curious historical rival to Corinthians) lost a club World Cup final for the second time. In 1999 they fell to Manchester United, also English, in what was then the Intercontinental Cup.
In the last edition the Brazilians were also present, but were eliminated in the semifinals by the Mexican Tigres.
