Javier Aguirre was ratified as coach of the Rayados de Monterrey despite the failure of the Club World Cup and the protests of the fans, this was announced by the club’s sports president, Duilio Davino.
Monterrey played in the Club World Cup with one of the most expensive squads in Mexican soccer and, as representative of Concacaf, was defeated in his first match against Al-Ahly of Egypt and African champion, unleashing the collective annoyance of his fans. Despite this, they were able to beat Al-Jazira from the United Arab Emirates and stay in fifth place in the World Cup.
For his part, Dulio Davino came out to calm the rumors of the departure of ‘Vasco’ Aguirre, pointing out that there will still be an evaluation. “Javier remains in his position, we will be evaluated, those of us who dedicate ourselves to this should be so. We will all be subject to review, not every tournament, week by week. We failed in the World Cup and now we have the League. There is nothing left but to work to turn the situation around”, said the president of Rayados.
