The US president, Joe Biden, stated that he made an “in-depth analysis” of four possible candidates to replace Judge Stephen Breyer in the Supreme Court of the United States, however, did not mention who they could be.

“I took about four people and thoroughly investigated them, that is, I have checked their background, to see if there is anything that makes them unqualified,” Biden told NBC News.

The White House announced that the president is on the right track in his plan to select a candidate before the end of February, estimated deadline.

Washington City District Judge Kentaji Brown Jackson, Judge Leondra Kruger and District Judge United States District Court of Southern California Julianna Michel Child are the people considered as finalists for this selection.

Furthermore, the US executive was optimistic about the possibility of obtaining support from the Republicans in the Senate.

“I am not looking to make an ideological choice here. I am looking for someone to replace Judge Breyer with the same kind of ability that Judge Breyer had, with a open mind, that understands the Constitution, that interprets it in a manner consistent with the majority interpretation of the Constitution”

The White House officials They have contacted the possible candidates to collect more information about their records. Additionally, as part of the investigative process, the FBI has contacted friends and former colleagues.

Furthermore, a high-level government source said that no in-person meetings have yet been held between the candidates and White House staff, and that most of the interactions have been by telephone.

Biden has spent several afternoons in the West Wing of the presidential residence reviewing files related to previous cases of possible chosen ones.

“While reviewing the process, not only reviews the biographies, but also the cases and case folders , because… this approach is being taken very seriously. She is taking it very seriously,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.

Biden met with the Democrats of the Senate Judiciary Committee, in charge of confirming the candidate, to discuss who should be chosen.
