Always controversial every time he expresses himself, former Cuban baseball player José Canseco once again finds himself in the spotlight after expressing himself on a very current issue: the appointment of new members to the Hall of Fame (Hall of Fame, HOF, in English).

In the class 2022 entered Tony Oliva and Minnie Miñoso, Bud Fowler, Gil Hodges, Jim Kaat and Buck O’Neil, who were elected by the Hall’s era committees of Fame; also the Dominican David “Big Papi” Ortiz, about whom Canseco spoke harshly on social networks.

Who also played for the Boston Red Sox ( 1995, one season only) accused Ortiz of having used prohibited substances during his career in the best baseball in the world.

“If David Ortíz is in the Hall of Fame, the others who used prohibited substances should also be . Once again the MLB makes a mess, speaking of hypocrisy”

Steroids are well known to Canseco, since they were -in addition to indiscipline- one of the main problems he had during his baseball career and that did not allow him to grow as a professional.

In 2005 Canseco admitted in the book ‘Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant ‘Roids, Smash Hits & How Baseball Got Big52444339’ having used anabolic steroids for much of his career. In the same work, he also accused the players (by then) Mark McGwire, Jason Giambi, Rafael Palmeiro, Iván Rodríguez and Juan González, his former teammates.

The Cuban has ensured on more than one occasion that in his time more than 85 % of baseball players took steroids and this figure remains the same today. Different important voices within the MLB have denied that percentage on more than one occasion.
