Ben Roethlisberger officially announced his retirement from the NFL after 18 years of career. The announcement was made through social networks with an emotional video along with images of his career and his family.
“The journey has been exciting, fueled by a spirit of competition. However, the time has come to clean out my locker, hang up my shoes and continue to be all that I can be for my wife and children. I am retiring from football a truly grateful man”, says Big Ben together to images of his career.
“I don’t know how to put into words what football has meant to me and what a blessing it has been. Although I know with confidence that I have given everything to the game, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for everything it has given me”, expressed the quarterback who will now wait to be a candidate for the Hall of Fame.
Roethlisberger is the fifth passing yards quarterback in NFL history with 64,088 and 2008 complete passes.
He is also the eighth with the most touchdowns with 2005 . Big Ben is among other legends such as Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, and is the second with the most winning series with 53, one below Manning.

In addition, Roethlisberger is the third quarterback with the most comebacks, behind Brady and Manning. Big Ben won two Super Bowls (2005, 2008), eight division titles and racked up 165 regular season wins, fifth-most in the NFL. He was also selected six times to the Pro Bowl.
