Two buses with almost 200 migrants are stopped in Mexico; they were hidden even in the luggage area

An anonymous call triggered an operation with members of the National Migration Institute (INM) of the Ministry of the Interior, the National Guard and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) in the city of Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, southern Mexico, in search of people with illegal immigration status.

To the surprise of the authorities, they discovered two tourist buses with migrants at a checkpoint, in them there were 198 people of different nationalities on board, exceeding the regular capacity of these units.

According to the official report, unaccompanied minors were found among the crowd, some of them in the spaces designated for conditioned luggage. with mats, and others, in the passenger transport seats.

When they were stopped and they were approached by federal INM agents , the passengers could not prove their regular stay in Mexico. We identified 198 single adult men from Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Cuba.

In addition, coming from Guatemala, 19 single adult women, seven unaccompanied girls and 20 children alone. Likewise, a mother with her son, also from that country.

People foreigners commented that they had been in the bush for several days and that their transfer from the Mexico-Guatemala border had been on foot through different gaps, some in vehicles and others aboard boats.

Adult foreigners were transferred to immigration offices to start the corresponding administrative process. The minors and the family nucleus remained under the tutelage of the System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF) in the entity.

In Therefore, the drivers and transport units were made available to the Public Ministry (MP) based in Huatulco.
