The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating the origin of hundreds of anti-Semitic pamphlets that were thrown in the gardens of homes in Miami Beach and Surfside (Florida).

The flyers, with hate messages and that blame several Jewish leaders for the covid pandemic-19, appeared over the weekend inside plastic bags with small stones in the yards of homes in both cities in southern Florida.

The FBI announced that it is investigating pamphlets, while the Police Department of both cities announced that they increased patrols in the neighborhoods and synagogues of these cities as a preventive measure.

The pamphlets identify as Jews a long list of directors of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and includes, among others, Xavier Becerra, US Secretary of Health.

The Florida Anti-Defamation League repudiated the fact and pointed out that these “ Harmful and hateful conspiracy theories have no place in our communities.” According to the authorities, some security videos show a vehicle at low speed throwing the flyers in the middle of the dark.

The mayor of Miami-Dade, Daniella Levine Cava, rejected through Twitter the “rhetoric of hate , threats, violence and intolerance that have become increasingly common in our divided society”.

“As mayor of our diverse, inclusive and supportive community, and the first Jewish mayor of Miami- Dade, anti-Semitism and all acts of hatred and intolerance especially touch my heart”.

As the Mayor of our beautifully diverse, inclusive and caring community, and the first Jewish Mayor of Miami-Dade County, antisemitism and all acts of hatred and bigotry cut especially close to my heart. https://t.co/OYUwgbOFhJ— Daniella Levine Cava (@MayorDaniella) January 23, 2021

The Miami Beach Police announced that they are investigating the event of an anti-Semitic nature and said that He will not offer more details so as not to hinder the investigation: “There is no place for hate in our community and it will not be tolerated,” the Miami Beach Police said in a statement.

The mayor of Miami Beach, Dan Gelber, indicated, for his part, that they cannot stand with their arms crossed thinking that it is something harmless: “It is hate, let’s call it what it is, it’s hate.”
