The footballers’ associations, including the PFA and the AFE, as well as players such as Paul Pogba and Juan Mata,
met this Thursday with FIFA to discuss, among other issues, the growing load of matches and the possibility of establishing the World Cup every two years.
At the meeting, which took place in Manchester, attended by Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, Arsene Wenger, director of development of FIFA and one of the biggest promoters of the World Cup every two years, and David Aganzo, president of the AFE .
“This has been the opportunity for all the footballers to share their vision of the current problems in the structure of the game and the calendar with FIFA. If those who play this sport have to be part of these conversations, so these dialogues are essential”, said Maheta Molango, president of the PFA (players union in England).

This meeting responds to the complaints from the soccer players that they have not been taken into account in the process of overloading matches the football calendar, as well as in the implementation of the World Cup every two years that FIFA wants to do from 2026.
“FIFA is listening to everyone. I am glad that we have had the opportunity to listen to the footballers and that we have been able to explain our way of thinking and how we can protect the health of the footballers and the quality of the international football”, said Infantino.
