The Brazilian Anderson Leite defined this Thursday the triumph of Juárez FC by 0-1 over San Luis at the start of the third day of the Clausura tournament 2022 of Mexican soccer.
The result raised Juárez to fourth place in the standings with six points, while the San Luis of the Uruguayan coach Marcelo Méndez, who suffered the expulsion of Javier Güemez at minute 45+5, remained in penultimate place without units.
Juárez was close to opening the scoring by 27 with a counterattack that ended with a shot by Cándido Ramírez that grazed the right post of Argentine goalkeeper Marcelo Barovero and San Luis also missed an opportunity to 28 when the Uruguayan Abel Hernández finished off a ball that González stopped.
In the first half stoppage, Güemez received a red card for committing a penalty to the Argentine Matías García, who missed the punishment shot that Barovero saved.
Despite playing with one player less, San Luis was the team that offered the most in attack in the second half against a conservative Juárez.
However, San Luis was inaccurate at the end of the plays. The locals spoiled their good second half with another penalty against Juárez, this time committed by a handball from Bilbao. The penalty kick was made by Anderson Leite with the 0-1 at 82.
The third day will resume on Friday with Toluca’s visit to Mazatlán FC. On Saturday, Guadalajara will host Querétaro, León will host Pachuca, América led by Argentine coach Santiago Solari will welcome champion Atlas, and Monterrey led by strategist Javier Aguirre will host Cruz Azul.
On Sunday, Pumas UNAM will host Tigres UANL and Santos Laguna del Necaxa. The Puebla-Tijuana duel will remain on the matchday, postponed on a date to be confirmed due to cases of covid- in the border box.
