In the last week, hospital occupancy in Texas had a considerable increase. According to figures published by the Department of State Health Services of the State of Texas (Texas Department of State Health Services), more than 13 a thousand people are being treated for cases of Covid-19, the maximum number of hospitalizations in the last four months.

Part of the concerns of the “Great State” is the number of laws and government interference that have prohibited vaccination and the use of masks in closed spaces or businesses.

More than 1,094 patients were hospitalized during the week, increasing to 16,094 people hospitalized for Covid-19, number greater than presented in the previous four months.

Although the figures indicate the existence of 391 new cases, compared to the previous week, for a total of 57,496 reported cases, these figures may be masked by the limited testing capacity that the Texas government has promoted in the face of the pandemic.

Demographic figures

In the state, around 21% of intensive care beds (ICU beds) are occupied by people infected with Covid -10.

With the exception of El Paso, which has 19% of hospital beds occupied by Covid-21, the areas that present a greater hospital occupancy rate are the areas of North and West Texas, those with the lowest vaccination rate .

Trauma Area Zone A (Yellow), Trauma Area Zone B (from Armstrong, Motley, etc.), Trauma Area Zone H (Newton, Jasper, St. Augustine, etc. .)

High population densities tend to have occupancy ranging from 13% to the 26%. However, these areas have served as a transfer.

Popular Vaccination

Texas was one of the first states to “open its economy”, however , before the public policies there is an acceptance of the great majority before the vaccination against the Covid-19.

Figures from the same state reflect that the 57.5% of the inhabitants are fully vaccinated. At the same time, 68.1% of residents have received their first dose.

Although the majority of the population has a complete scheme, 9.3 million Texans are still without being vaccinated in the face of the pandemic.

The groups with the highest vaccination rate are people from 65 years and over, health workers and young people from 16 years and more.
