Hirving “Chucky” Lozano was summoned to Mexico for the FIFA triple date in which they will face Jamaica, Costa Rica and Panama. Lozano will not be able to play against Jamaica due to a one-match suspension for accumulation of yellow cards.
In the last match of the defeat against Canada, last 16 November, Lozano received a yellow card that was added to the warning in the visit against El Salvador, on 13 October, which earned the suspension of the match against Jamaica next 27 January.
Mexico is in the third ranking position with 14 points, behind the United States and Canada with 16 and 15 units respectively. El Tri is level on points with the Panamanians and the last match where they face each other, could be decisive for qualification for the World Cup in Qatar 2022.
El Tri has accumulated two wins, two losses and a draw in its last five matches. On the next FIFA date, they will play against the sixth (Jamaica), fifth (Costa Rica) and fourth (Panama) of the octagonal course to Qatar 2022.
Summons list:
In the news of the list published by Martino, the names of Julián Araujo appear from LA Galaxy, Gerardo Arteaga from Genk from Belgium, Diego Lainez from Betis from Spain and Erick Gutiérrez from PSV Eindhoven from the Netherlands, as well as five players from Rayados de Monterrey, despite having the Club World Cup days after the Qualifying matches.
Gerardo Arteaga is another novelty on the list, after not being able to play in the Olympic Games in Tokyo for personal reasons and after 224 he was called up again by the National Team.
Diego Lainez returns to the squad after almost 7 months after his last match played with El Tri, after the friendly against Honduras in 2021, being another novelty in Gerardo Martino’s call, despite not having the usual regularity at Betis.
In the case of Erick Gutiérrez, his call is a reward for his great level shown with PSV Eindhoven and being considered one of the best midfielders in Dutch football today, because of this, Mexico will be able to take advantage of this to recover ground in the Qualifiers.
