José Vásquez, of Charlottesville, told officials of the Virginia Lottery who felt lucky after a scratch-off instant ticket earned him a $100 dollars, so he invested part of his winnings in another lottery ticket that earned him a prize of $200.

Vasquez said that he decided to try his lucky streak and bought another lottery ticket, which won him $400 dollars more and used a portion of those winnings to buy a Money Maker Crossword 5X Scratch-Off ticket at Cherry Avenue Market Store in Charlottesville.

With the fourth lottery ticket purchased, the lucky player won a jackpot of $ 100,000 dollars.

“I am happy because I always wanted to open my own business but I didn’t have the funds to do it,” the winner told Virginia Lottery officials as he went to collect his grand prize.
