When Netflix started making content in Mexico, many of the actors ran to the streaming platform to do casting to stay among their productions. Most of the stars came from making telenovelas on Televisa and saw the opportunity to work with the American company as a growth.
It was very common to hear actors say that they wanted to focus their career on make series and no more novels, saying that the latter no longer represented a challenge. However, production after production that Netflix launched had all the look of soap operas in the dramatic arc they had.
Some of the clearest examples were “La Casa de las Flores” and “Who Killed Sara?” Despite being considered series, the way the situations were presented were like the great melodramas. Having fewer chapters and broadcasting them for seasons did not make them series.
