HOUSTON – The mother of a young Hispanic woman, who police say was shot 15 times by her ex-boyfriend, she is furious and outraged after the suspect was released after posting bail.
Diamond Álvarez, from 15 years old, was shot to death on Tuesday, 11 January on the block 15400 on Park Manor Street in the southwest of the city at about 9: 30 pm
Houston Police say Frank DeLeón Jr was arrested Monday and charged with the young woman’s murder. A judge set a bond for $250,000 same dollars that his parents paid this Tuesday, the day he was released from court.
Diamond’s mother, Anna Machado, considers that the judge’s decision was unfair.
In an interview with KPRC2 the mother said that the defendant should be in jail and that she was tired of seeing judges give bail that allows criminals return to the streets.
In the interview, Machado commented that his daughter did not deserve to be killed that way.
“I don’t think he deserves to breathe the air, look at the light, the sun, the night. I don’t have my daughter. Why can they have their son with them?” added Machado.
Diamond’s family assures that apart from the pain they are going through they have also received death threats.
Diamond’s funeral has been scheduled for this Friday at 11 am at the Integrity Funeral facilities located at the address 8601 of Almeda Street Genoa.
