The committee in charge of investigating the assault onl Capitol on January 6, 2021 sent for Rudy Giuliani and three other people who raised unfounded public doubts about the results of the election of 2020.
Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powelll, Boris Epshteyn and Jenna Ellis have been summoned to testify and deliver documents to the committee. Both Giuliani, Powell and Ellis made slurs in defiance of the democratic outcome of the election .
Bennie Thompson, Member of the United States House of Representatives united spoke of how these four characters were involved in planning to reverse the election.
“The four individuals that we quote today advanced unsubstantiated theories, made an effort to reverse the election results or were in contact with the former president to stop the counting of electoral votes ”, said Thompson.
Days before the anniversary of the assault on the Capitol, Bennie Thompson mentioned that there is “significant evidence that makes us believe that the White House (Trump administration) told them to do something. We have to verify everything”.
Sidney Powell and his multi-million dollar lawsuits
One of the most controversial figures of the four cited by the committee is Sidney Powell. After the election, the lawyer began to spread conspiracy theories against the businessman Majed Khalil .
Powell along with Fox News mentioned that Khalil had been a participant in an effort to “fix” the election result in favor of Joe Biden.
Khalil still keeps a active lawsuit against Powell. The American lawyer seeks to neutralize said claim by awarding the “First Amendment” as part of her defense.
Sidney Powell was one of the people who most pressured the Trump conspiracy theories. However, in December he had to pay more than 550 thousand dollars after being sanctioned by the Jjudge Linda Parker after presenting efforts to give votes to Donald Trump in the state of Michigan.
After the event, Powell may be disabled from practice law .
