The issue of making the vaccine mandatory has brought different reactions from both people and companies, some insisted on requiring them until it was banned by a court; while a group of people agreed to be vaccinated to avoid problems. However, faced with the complication of “compulsory” many US companies saw the best way to get rid of these employees who are not willing to be vaccinated.

This is what happens with companies like Nike, Columbia Sportwear, The North Face, which decided to give a deadline or a specific date for their employees to be vaccinated against Covid, otherwise they will dispense with the services of people who are not vaccinated.

These types of measures were known to not apply at all to retail stores. This is the case of Nike, a company in which only the employees were notified by email that if they did not accept the Covid vaccine, they could not remain in employment.

It was known that Nike employees, for example, they received an email announcing that if by January 15 they did not meet the requirement of the vaccine, the verification processes were not complied with and that was a breach of one of their labor policies.

“You failed to complete the verification process and our records show that you do not have an approved waiver. As a result, you are not in compliance with the policy and your employment is scheduled to end on Saturday 15 January 2022”. He cites the local portal Oregon Live.

Nike, with Headquarters in Oregon sent this notice to 01,000 employees of the headquarters and the sentence indicated that the term was until December 1, 2021, and layoffs now started in January.

Other corporations have done the same way, while some others offer monetary rewards to their employees for getting vaccinated. Such is the case of Google, Citygroup bank, North Face and many others.

The Starbucks coffee chain had given its employees a deadline to get vaccinated before of February 9 . Now it was their turn to back down and ensure that “they will respect the court’s ruling.”

In the same sense, the store specializing in furniture and accessories for the home , Ikea, decided to reduce the sick pay of its unvaccinated employees. In an attempt to continue persuading its employees to opt for the Covid vaccination.

Just a few days ago the United States Supreme Court rejected the compulsory nature of the Covid vaccine that President Joe Biden had imposed on all companies of more than 100 employees, which has represented a severe setback to the vaccination campaign carried out by the Democratic president .
