In Spanish football the controversy continues after the match in which Real Betis beat Sevilla 2-1. The fact that has triggered the indignation of the visiting team has been the aggression against Joan Jordán , a footballer of the team nervous. However, among the main ones mentioned is Andrés Guardado, a soccer player for the Mexican national team, who made a gesture mocking after the aggression of his rival.

“Sevilla FC strongly condemns the humiliation and attacks on honorability suffered by its player Joan Jordán and the lack of respect towards his coach, Julen Lopetegui, about whom unsubstantiated comments have been made based on self-interested speculation”, the rojiblanco team said in a statement released through their social networks.

The group led by Julen Lopetegui rejected any act of ridicule on the part of the members of the Real Betis. In the first instance, the main one pointed out is Andrés Guardado for having made fun of the aggression suffered by Jordán in the middle of the stadium.

“Nobody should ignore the objective data. Jordán was assaulted, he was treated in a hospital, he had to rest at home by medical prescription and he did not he was able to play after the game resumed. The victim is Jordán. There is never room for mockery with a victim or interested comments to divert attention from what happened, a very serious event

,” the statement continued.

Finally, the rojiblanco team emphasized their disagreement with the attitudes of the members of the rival team after making fun of this aggression. Sevilla questioned the ways in which Real Betis handled this incident considering that it goes totally against the values of sportsmanship.

“In this sense, Sevilla FC considers unfortunate and unacceptable certain behaviors of some members of Real Betis Balompié around the person of Joan Jordán, Julen Lopetegui and the Sevilla fans, which seriously compromise the healthy rivalry that is generally lived in the city of Seville. Sevilla FC believes that sports institutions and those who make them up should be the first to promote the values of respect and tolerance that are intrinsic to sport”, they concluded.

Andres Guardado’s response to criticism

Seville is verdiblanca! 💚

I want to clarify that at no time am I making fun of Jordan. An event has been experienced that should not be experienced on a soccer field and that is unfortunate and a shame pic.twitter.com/KxVmJWpUeu— Andrés Guardado (@AGuardado16) January 16, 2022
