Emiliano Martínez had a big mistake in Manchester United’s first goal against Aston Villa in the 2-2 draw in the Premier League last Saturday.
The goalkeeper got a shot under his legs that Bruno Fernandes did and that he alleged that it was because he had no vision because Edinson Cavani was covering his vision, but he had been in an enabled position. Despite the mistake, Steve Gerrard made a gesture of support for the Argentine goalkeeper on social networks.
The former Rangers English coach posted a photo on his Instagram account where one of his sons appears, dressed in the goalkeeper uniform and the Aston Villa number. Accompanied by the image, the former Liverpool tagged Martínez and placed a blue heart and an emoji of a face.
“How good that goalkeeper looks”, replied the champion of America with Argentina as a way of thanking him.
After the error, Martínez was the protagonist of several saves and responsible for keeping the score closed. In the last 10 minutes, his team tied the score 2-2 and the Argentine goalkeeper could not stand it and celebrated with the fans behind his goal.
Aston Villa is in thirteenth position in the Premier League table and has three losses, one win and one draw in its last English league games.
Steven Gerrard’s team will seek to continue adding positions in the classification and for this they incorporated two luxury reinforcements such as left back Lucas Digne and midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
