DirecTV, the satellite pay television service, will stop broadcasting One America News Network (OAN) when the channel’s current broadcast contract expires, which will likely deal a critical blow to its audience and finances. According to the Wall Street Journal, DirecTV is the largest network distributor.
Around the 90% of the right-wing network’s revenues come from a contract with AT&T’s television platforms, including DirecTV and U-verse, reported the agency Reuters in October of 2020, citing a sworn testimony of 2020 of an OAN counter.
The statement issued by DirecTV informed that
The OAN channel will also be removed from the streaming service of DirecTV . The news network began to appear through satellite services in April 2017.
According to the newspaper The New York Times, the NAO has been criticized for questioning the victory of President Biden in the elections of 2020, in addition to stating that the people who entered the Capitol on January 6, 2021 were activists of the leftist Antifa movement.
DirecTV will increase the price of your services
From 23 January DirecTV satellite and streaming services will apply a price increase . The increase is attributed by the company to programming costs, as well as to “inflation higher than normal in all our suppliers”.
Most DirecTV customers will see an increase in their monthly costs between $1 and $10 dollars
Streaming service customers will also see a price increase on many of the streaming packages.
Price increases per month will vary between $4 and $10 more dollars , depending on the plan.
