A 17-year-old woman arrived at a hospital saying she gave birth and buried her baby on the side of a mobile home in Houston.

HOUSTON – The Houston Police announced that the body of a baby who was found dead and buried in southwest Houston, was born prematurely to a 17 year-old girl, according to authorities .

Officers said they were called to a mobile home lot located on the block 3500 of Darlinghurst Street at about 6 : 30 am this Thursday for the death of an infant.

According to the Police, officers spoke with the young woman, who told them that she had given birth to a baby. Preliminary information indicates that the baby was born on Monday.

The authorities are trying to determine under what circumstances the baby died, according to the deputy chief of HPD, Chandra Hatcher.

According to the Police, the woman was only 25 weeks pregnant and was apparently buried by the teenager in the vicinity of the mobile home.

This Wednesday the young woman went to a hospital complaining of pain in her belly and it was during that visit that she told the nurses that she had given birth and that she had buried the baby.

Although the investigation is just beginning, officials believe that the baby was born prematurely, but is awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
