WhatsApp is the most used instant messaging application in the world . Its platform keeps billions of people in contact and allows them, in addition to starting a conversation, to share files to which they can have access whenever they need it, thanks to the backup that the application creates automatically. Among all those shared files, photos represent the most used element in conversations and their location within them can be determined in two ways, depending on the account settings.
How to know where WhatsApp saves photos
The first step to know where WhatsApp saves the photos, is to determine the settings of the files that are shared in this application. In that sense, we must open WhatsApp on the phone and then:
one. Go to the bottom corner of the screen and click on the “Settings” tab.
two. The basic information of the account with all the related options will be displayed. Go to “Chats” and click on it.
3. The settings menu for in-app conversations will appear on the screen. The first of the options is “Save photos” and it has to do with their storage. If this function is active, we only have to go to the phone’s photo gallery and locate the “WhatsApp” folder to have access to all the received files.
Otherwise, if the function is disabled, we will not be able to find a backup of the received files in the phone gallery. Therefore, if we need to find a photo or several photos, we can try another procedure to locate them, but it does not have to do with the phone’s storage but with the application. The steps to follow are as follows:
1. Open WhatsApp and, at the bottom of the application, choose the “Chats” tab.
two. All conversations opened so far will be displayed. We just have to locate the chat of our interest and click on it.
3. Once inside, we must access the contact information by clicking on the name displayed at the top of the chat.
4. All the information corresponding to the contact and several options will be displayed, including “Files, links and docs”. We must click on it.
5. Once inside, the phone will display both the sent and received photos, videos, links and documents shared with the contact.
It is important to note that the “Save Photos” function is closely associated with the loss of phone storage capacity , due to the large number of files that are shared daily on WhatsApp. To improve phone performance and memory, experts recommend keeping this feature disabled.
In the same way, it is necessary to know that if we are used to emptying WhatsApp chats periodically, we will not be able to find files stored in the device.
