Mexican Alexa Grasso gives a good display and wins by unanimous decision at UFC 258

Mexican fighter Alexa Grasso gradually attracts the spotlight and is already a strong flyweight contender.

In her second fight in 125 pounds of UFC 258 , Grasso showed a great level by beating the American Maycee Barber and finally win a unanimous decision.

All judges scored 29 – 28 in favor of Grasso while the Mexican is 2-0 at flyweight and eliminates one of the most talked about prospects in the sport.

“I trained really, really hard since the last fight,” Grasso said after the win. “I told you, I have been working very, very hard. In each fight I want to show you that I am getting better and better. ”

It was a battle of position in the first round with Barber looking to intimidate inward to clinch while Grasso displayed deft boxing with very fast hands. While Barber appeared to be the most physically imposing fighter, Grasso avoided her takedowns and then hit her whenever she had enough distance.

With room to work, Grasso was only tearing Barber apart on the feet, including a nasty series of blows that shook him momentarily. While recovering, Barber was still struggling to deal with Grasso’s dynamic attacks and even as the Contender Series veteran managed to take advantage of a slip that brought the fight to the ground, she ended up defending a series of submission attempts.

Later, Barber showed himself desperate as she tried to force the end. Still, Barber couldn’t really put Grasso in serious trouble and time was up before she could really come back.
