Like many Angelenos, Los Angeles Supervisor Kathryn Barger struggled to find a place to get tested for COVID.

“By sheer luck, I was able to take the test on Sunday, which led me to the diagnosis of covid,” he posted on Twitter when announcing that tested positive for covid – 19.

“It feels like a cold, but everyone’s experience is different. I’m isolated, resting, and keeping my loved ones at a distance, ”she said.

And he added that he started experiencing the symptoms of the virus on the eve of the new year.

With the rebound in covid cases, it has become more difficult to get an appointment to get tested. Long lines up to minutes at Los Angeles County testing sites, where walk-ins are accepted; and elsewhere, there is no longer a place to get tested.

Supervisor Hilda Solís announced the opening of 4 new temporary test sites in her district, in the Star Center in East Los Angeles, Morgan Park in Baldwin Park, South El Monte Community Center, and La Puente Community Center.

“Covid – 19 is having an unprecedented impact on our county, ”Supervisor Solís said.

“We are seeing a record number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic and we can expect daily rates to skyrocket over the next two weeks. As the virus continues to spread between communities, I will continue to prioritize expanded access to testing. ”

District 1 has experienced a high volume of cases since the beginning of the covid pandemic. Many residents are essential workers, live in overcrowded conditions, and have little access to health care.

No appointments or ID are required to get tested at these places.
