Evidence suggests that only those who recently completed their Covid vaccination series or received a booster have significant protection against infection caused by the highly contagious variant of Omicron, according to Public Health officials.

“The next few days will be extraordinarily challenging for all of us, as we face an extraordinarily high number of cases reflecting the widespread transmission of the virus. To ensure that people can work and attend school, we must all act in a responsible manner ”, said Ferrer.

“As the explosive transmission is likely to continue for a few weeks, all efforts must now be focused on protecting our system from medical care so you are not overwhelmed. Since most of the people in our hospitals with serious illness from COVID – 19 are not vaccinated, those that have not yet been vaccinated or reinforced need, please, stay away from others as much as possible to avoid becoming infected or infecting others ”, indicated Ferrer .
