If you live in a small apartment or condominium, it is possible that the refrigerators you find in the appliance store, which vary from 30 to 36 inches wide, won’t fit in your kitchen. Smaller kitchens often need a narrower refrigerator, one that is between 24 and 28 inches wide.
“These smaller models got more visibility in retail stores during the 2020, probably due to changes in consumer preferences from the many millennia that entered the home appliance market. However, most major brands only offer one to three models with limited color options, ”says Nish Suvarnakar, Consumer Reports refrigerator market analyst. “Most, if not all, also lack some of the features that consumers are most looking for, such as external water dispensers.” In fact, it’s rare for a narrow model to have more than 3 of the dozen features that Consumer Reports monitors.
Since we first published this list, Consumer Reports has tried new ones. high-performance models that have achieved a radical change in the classification of narrow refrigerators.
In the laboratory, our technicians equip each refrigerator with temperature sensors in a climate-controlled chamber and monitor them for a month. This compiles more than 5.4 million temperature readings that identify hot and cold spots to determine which models will keep your food fresh the longest.
We also include survey data from thousands of members Reports to determine the reliability of a refrigerator brand and measure shopper satisfaction with their refrigerators. In our refrigerator ratings, we use all of that data and more to arrive at an overall score for a particular model.
