The Chivas de Guadalajara announced the death of one of their legends José Villegas , better known as the ‘Jamaican’ to the 87 years old, although the reasons for his death are still unknown.
The former footballer works as a defender for the left and He belonged to the team of Champion , where he achieved 8 titles in one of the most important times in the history of the herd, in addition, he played 160 matches being the third after Salvador ‘Chava’ Reyes and Juan Jasso , with 169 and 163, commitments respectively.
In his time as a Chivas player, Jamaicón was with the herd since 1952 to 1972, managing to raise 17 trophies, spread over eight of The Liga MX , seven of the Champion of Champions and two of the MX Cup, also participated with the Mexican National Team in the World Cups in Sweden 1952 and Chile 1962.
Amaury Vergara , president of the Chivas , dedicated a message to Mexican soccer legend José Villegas on his twitter account. “Rest in peace, champion, legend and figure. All my respect to your family and friends. I wish you resignation and I am very sorry for this departure. We will always remember him with admiration ”, he published.

José Villegas received the nickname of ‘Jamaicón’ as a child, because he cried as a child when he was left alone and on several occasions, a neighbor yelled at him with that name because that is how he was called to crying people. However, in his time as a footballer, it was very common for him to suffer from depression when the team went on a trip, according to missing the food at home.
‘Jamaicón’ had been presenting some health problems for a couple of years, although the causes of his death have not yet been confirmed.
