On Tuesday, President Joe Biden credited the Trump Administration with developing the vaccine against Covid – 19 and praised its predecessor, Donald Trump , for receiving a booster shot, marking a rare moment in which the two men have found common ground since Opening Day.

“I received my booster shot as soon as they were available”, said Biden during a White House speech on his administration’s efforts to address the Omicron variant of Covid- 19, adding: “and the other day former President Trump announced that he had received his booster shot. ”

“ It may be one of the few things that he and I agree on, ”with Biden continued. “People with booster shots are highly protected. Join them. Join us”.

Unvaccinated people face a risk 10 times greater than testing positive and a 20 times greater risk of dying from Covid – 19 than fully vaccinated people who have also received a booster, according to data published recently by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

During Tuesday’s speech, Biden also praised the Trump administration for their efforts to develop a Covid vaccine – 19.

“Let me be clear. Thanks to the previous administration and our scientific community, the United States was one of the first countries to receive the vaccine, ” said Biden . “Thanks to my administration and the hard work of the Americans, we led a deployment, we made the United States among the world leaders in receiving vaccines in the arms.”

President Biden’s comments come two days after the video was released showing Trump being booed by a crowd when he revealed that he had received his booster dose at an event with Bill O’Reilly.

Trump has long championed his administration’s efforts to develop vaccines against Covid – 19 , but rarely talks about his vaccination status and has largely refused to encourage others to get vaccinated.

During his speech Tuesday, Biden said that unvaccinated Americans “They are responsible for their own choice, but those choices have been driven by a pel Ignorant misinformation on cable television and social media. ”

The president referred to the disinformation campaigns and resistance to vaccination against Covid – 19 that have flooded social networks and also some media and have motivated thousands of people who are reluctant to get vaccinated.
