Close to 1, 07 gallons of gasoline spilled into a storm drain this Sunday afternoon in the city of Pasadena , reported the authorities.
The incident occurred at approximately 3: 15 pm, when a car hit a pump at a gas station 76 located at E. Glenarm Street and S. Arroyo Parkway .
Apparently, the emergency shutdown system at the station did not work properly.
As a result of the spill, there was an intense smell of gasoline west of the city of San Marino .
The authorities asked the Pasadena and San Marino residents to stay home with doors and windows closed.
The spilled fuel reached the storm drain in the city of Alhambra , south of Pasadena, where the strong smell of fuel was also present.
The departments Los Angeles County Hazardous Materials Agency, with the support of the Pasadena and San Marino Fire Departments, as well as the San Marino Police , they dedicated themselves to cleaning up the area to avoid a mishap due to fuel.
At night, the washing work was completed without any incident related to the fuel spill being reported.
