The American pharmacist Moderna has ensured that a booster dose of its COVID vaccine – 19 increases protection versus the Omicron variant.

The multinational has released today the preliminary data of the studies they have carried out on booster doses and the strategy they plan to implement to combat the new variant of SARS-CoV-2 responsible for the pandemic.

Moderna has underlined, in a note news released today that is a variant of the virus that is “worrisome for all” and “highly transmissible” , but it has affected that the booster dose of his vaccine increases the levels of neutralizing antibodies and that he is already working on a specific boost against this variant.

The company has ensured that, before the complexity of getting a new vaccine, it will focus its “short-term” efforts on addressing the new variant of the virus with the booster of its original vaccine.

Looking ahead and given the speed of transmission of the new variant, the company has underlined that it continues to work on a specific vaccine against omicron and that it hopes to carry out clinical trials early next year.
