In the previous fight, Gilberto Ramírez warned that his fight was dedicated to the memory of Vicente Fernández, who recently passed away. He used custom boots with the image of the Guadalajara legend: “This is for you, there will never be another legend like you, rest in paradise”, said.

With this triumph, fourth consecutive KO, he earned the right to be the challenger of Russian Bivol for the title of the light heavyweight of the World Boxing Association. The Golden Lefty reached 43 wins in the same amount of fights and 29 were by knockout.
