YouTube: Disney withdraws its ABC and ESPN channels from the streaming platform

YouTube TV customers have lost access to all Disney-owned channels, including ESPN and ABC , as the companies failed to agree on a new contract before the previous one expired this Friday.

YouTube TV customers will automatically get a discount of $ 15 Dollars per month as long as Disney channels remain without signal, reducing the cost of the base plan of $ 65 to $ 50 dollars.

“Subscribers, we have worked hard to prevent this, but we have not been able to reach a fair agreement with Disney,” the company said in a statement.

“We regret to share that as of 17 December, all Disney-owned channels will not be available on YouTube TV. As long as Disney content remains off our platform, we will reduce our price by $ 15 dollars per month . We know how frustrating it is to lose channels like ESPN and your local ABC station, and we will continue discussions with Disney in hopes of restoring their content to you. ”

The list of channels no longer on YouTube TV included all local ABC channels, ABC News Live, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, Freeform, FX, FXX, FXM, National Geographic, National Geographic Wild , ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, SEC Network and ACC Network.

The Google platform was also on the verge of losing the NBCUniversal channels, however, they agreed to a brief extension to avoid a blackout when the original contract. In the contract between Disney and YouTube TV they could still reach a new agreement and continue with the service of the online channels.
