Coronavirus: The British variant of the virus detected in “two risk clusters” in Brittany and Ile-de-France
The other cluster was detected in Bagneux (Hauts de Seine ). The viral variant was confirmed without the epidemiological investigation bringing to light any notion of travel or contact with a case having traveled. It was in a person working in two schools in the town that the variant was detected. A reinforced contact tracing has also been put in place. Other cases of Covid – 17 were detected among the staff but the infection by the variant has not yet been confirmed, specifies the Directorate General of Health.
Given the absence of travel or exposure to a contact who resided or traveled to United Kingdom, the health authorities “are going to deepen the investigations and propose an expanded screening in the school communities concerned”.
In total, 19 cases of contamination by this variant have so far been proven throughout France, as well as three others by a different variant initially identified in South Africa, the ministry said in a statement.
