'Hercai' serves as a 'band aid' for Telemundo but the audience is still low before Univision

In recent weeks, Telemundo has had to make changes to its nightly programming because some productions have not worked at all. First it was “Parientes a la Fuerza” that had a fatal rating drop after the first season of “Hercai” left it a space with a good audience.

It was there when Telemundo decided to return to primetime “Hercai” to stop audience loss at 9 pm/8c. When the Turkish telenovela returned to the Hispanic channel, the reality show “Por Amor o Por Dinero” premiered at the same time.

However, in less than a month, the program hosted by Carlos Ponce lowered the average rating of his predecessor “La Casa de los Famosos”. Again, Telemundo used “Hercai” to help with the audience and extended its duration to two hours and took one hour from the love reality show.

“Hercai” has improved the average of the hours of 8 pm/7c and 9 pm/8c and has kept it above one million daily viewers. And although the Turkish series is doing better than what it replaced, the audience remains well below the competition that Univision proposes night after night.

At the hearing on Thursday 16 December, Univision has been seen to dominate primetime with its productions.

“What’s Happening to My Family” achieved 1.3 million in total audience and 520 thousand in the adult segment between 18 Y 49 year old. “La Rosa de Guadalupe” which is at 8 pm/7c on Univision, scored 1.4 million in total and 591 thousand in the demo.

At 9 pm/8c is “Vencer El Pasado” with 1.5 million in total and 610 thousand in the demo. Univision’s primetime night closes with “La Desalmada” that achieves 1. 59 million in total and 591 thousand in the demo.

Meanwhile on Telemundo, the night opens with “Por Amor o Por Dinero” that only marks 860 thousand in total and 262 thousand in the young adult segment. The average of the two hours of “Hercai” achieves 1.1 million in total and 411 thousand in the demo, the highest of the channel. Telemundo closes with “Malverde” who manages to obtain 877 thousand in total and 384 thousand in the demo.

“Hercai” has only served as a “band aid” for Telemundo within a program that has not “clicked” with the audience. Telemundo prepares changes for the 2022 with the departure of the executive Marcos Santana and premieres such as “Diario de un Gigolo” and the second season of “Pasión de Gavilanes”.
