Anaheim and Huntington Beach sanitation workers reached agreements with employer to end strike

The union representing the Anaheim and Huntington Beach sanitation workers reached a tentative agreement with the employer Republic Services , which will end a strike that lasted for a week.

The Republic Services agreement with Anaheim was announced this Thursday morning, and in the afternoon the Local 396 of Teamsters reported that the same had happened with Huntington Beach .

Anaheim and Huntington Beach sanitation employees, represented by Local 396, have separate labor agreements .

Harvesting could normalize in the coming days trash, starting in Anaheim and neighboring cities such as Garden Grove, Yorba Linda, Brea, Chino Hills, Fullerton, Villa Park, La Habra Heights and Placentia .

Service in residential areas of Anaheim will be limited for a short time, but it is expected that during the weekend it is close to its maximum capacity.

A spokesman for the city indicated that Over the next week, waste collection will be improved .

It was indicated that Anaheim residents should continue to remove their containers on the scheduled day, and in case the trash is not picked up, leave it one more day.

In a statement, the city informed that they will grant credits on garbage bills for lost collection days .

In Huntington Beach, limited service was offered. Residents whose garbage has accumulated, can dispose of it in any of the five places that the city has for this purpose, in Greer, Edison, Murdy Park, El Patio de Obras Public on Gothard Street or Meadowlark Golf .

Near 400 sanitation employees work at the Anaheim facility and Huntington Beach, and also serve neighboring towns in North and Northwest Orange County . The workers authorized the strike on 23, with the support of Local 396 by Teamsters.

The strike began on December 9, after its previous labor agreement had expired on 30 September.
