Mexican taqueria Tacombi gears up to be the next Taco Bell and will open 75 new locations in the United States

Tacombi, a Mexican taqueria that started in a VW bus that rolled through the Yucatan peninsula to park in Playa del Carmen at 2006 and that at 2010 opened its first taco shop in the United States in a New York garage, is preparing to be the next Taco Bell .

The taqueria became a chain of 13 restaurants with locations in New York , Washington DC and Miami. Inside the taquerías they also began to produce their own authentic and traditional “Vista Hermosa” tortilla products. Now, Tacombi is going for a greater conquest.

Tacombi is in the process of its great expansion in the United States. Obtained 27. 5 million of dollars in financing with Enlightened Hospitality Investments which has Danny Meyer as the main investor. Meyer is known for founding the hamburger chain, Shake Shack .

Tacombi founder Dario Wolos will use the money to open more restaurants across the United States. Wolos estimates that there will be 75 Tacombi locations in the next five years , according to Bloomberg.

Next year they will open at least five more Tacombi locations next year in New York, Miami and Washington DC and Connecticut.

Tacombi focuses on tacos, among The varieties that are included are the popular tacos al pastor, carnitas, roast beef, Yucatecan chicken, crispy fish and grilled fish ; You can also find quesadillas, such as gringas, vegetarians, gallo and norteñas; and donkeys. “Our taqueros take pride in working every day to preserve and share culinary traditions from Mexico, and we do it in a sustainable way with simple and healthy ingredients free of antibiotics, hormones, genetic modification or artificial additives and preservatives ”, assures the Mexican taqueria.

According to Eater, the company also plans to add a line of frozen burritos to sell in various regions next year.
