HOUSTON, Texas – A person has been arrested in Texas in connection with the case of the cargo truck that was apparently transporting inside near 80 undocumented immigrants and from where at least two people reported by phone being on the verge of suffocation , according to local media.

The authorities of Bexar County, where the city of San Antonio is based ( Texas ), released Wednesday 06 February two audios received by the emergency call service in which at It looked like two people claimed to be trapped in a truck and short of breath.

The immigrant, with shortness of breath, manages to answer the operator seconds before the call was cut that he apparently was in a “white pipe.”

In another call, the person says with difficulty to the operator that “we are dying”

The authorities managed find the tanker this Thursday, after having obtained surveillance camera images through a trace the cell phone communication towers where the parked vehicle can be seen.

In a statement, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) reported that the detained person, who has not been identified, could have a connection to a possible human trafficking operation related to immigrants trapped in the cargo truck.

The authorities have not informed if the whereabouts or health status of the immigrants is known, only that “it is an ongoing investigation.”
