A teenager died as a result of firearm shots outside a recreation center this Tuesday afternoon in a neighborhood of the city of Los Angeles.
The incident happened shortly before 4 pm in front of the Evergreen Recreation Center, on the block 2800 on E. 2nd Street, near First Street Elementary School, in Boyle Heights .
A video, recorded by a passerby, showed a man and a woman, possibly their parents, being held by officers as they desperately tried to reach their son, whose body was covered with a blanket.
The adolescent has not yet been identified nor was his age reported.
The authorities detained a person allegedly related to this shooting and a firearm was recovered.
So far the motive for the shooting has not been determined, but some versions indicated that it was allegedly related to gangs .
“It’s very preliminary, I don’t know if they knew each other, I don’t know if there was an argument, but apparently it happened a type of dispute and then the shooting occurred, “said Los Angeles Police Department Captain Germán Hurtado.
The authorities established a perimeter while searched for another individual who allegedly participated in the shooting of the teenager .
It is the second shooting that occurs in 24 hours in which a minor loses his life in the vicinity of a school in the Los Angeles area.
On Monday, a child of 12 years He was killed when two suspects approached the vehicle he was in with a woman and shot them near Wilmington Park Elementary School . In this shooting, the woman who was aboard the car was injured, as well as a 9-year-old girl who was injured by a stray bullet while playing in the schoolyard.
