One former Maxim model claimed he was “drugged and raped” at lunch with a photographer and felt compelled to sleep with her agent to get a job.
Nikki DuBose was one of the top models in the early 2000, who often appeared in the covers of publications like Maxim and Glamor .
But now it’s revealing in a interview that her former agent encouraged her to become anorexic and only gave her work if she slept with him.
DuBose says she was “pressured to be slimmer” and that her agency “did not care about her health mental or physical. ”
“ I was a fashion model for many years, I was very successful and sadly, I saw the darker side of the ind ustria, “she said.
DuBose added that she felt” pressured “by her agency director to have sex with him multiple times.
“And when I did, I worked harder. But when I didn’t, the work stopped coming. ”
She also said that she was“ drugged and raped ”at lunch with a photographer who left her “completely inhuman and traumatized.”
The result of the alleged abuse left DuBose with “eating disorders and body dysmorphia.”
” I think the modeling agency definitely exacerbated my problems, ”she said.
DuBose called modeling a“ psychologically damaging industry ”and said it worked more when she was more ill with anorexia nervosa.
“I weighed alone 90 pounds, but everyone around me just glamorized it. They told me, ‘You look so amazing, you are the most beautiful girl we’ve ever seen.’ ”
However, DuBose claims that her agency only wanted to make money from her.
“I was allowing myself to be in a position where people could control and abuse me.”
In 2018, DuBose claimed that the sexual abuse she suffered from her mother made her a sex addict.
The model indicated that the abuse began when he was around eight or nine years old and “escalated to 13 years.”
Police rescued DuBose from his mother’s house when he was 13 years, but says she coped with trauma by turning to drugs and alcohol before finally becoming a sex addict.
“I did it all on autopilot, with a numb in the soul that he could not kill, ”he said.
DuBose added that she spent her life seeking validation in the modeling industry.
Dropped out the modeling industry in 2012, after her mother died in an alcohol-related car accident at the age of 45 years.
She says that the decision of leaving was because modeling was a “trigger” for his addictive personality.
“My career was a false identity for me,” DuBose said, adding that he had to go “if he wanted to be healthy and discover some kind of genuine identity.” .
Currently, DuBose is the founder of an eating disorder recovery coaching service called Live ED Free.
He is also studying a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Meridian University.
She was the author of a book in 2016 entitled “Washed Away: From Darkness to Light”, where he spoke of his battle with eating disorders, depression and sexual abuse.
“It is time to unite and stop the abuse against women in all industries,” she said.
