Hispanic father of six shot to death as he left his Houston apartment for work

HOUSTON – A Hispanic was shot to death outside his apartment this Monday morning, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred at an apartment complex located on the block 12400 from Antoine Street to Veterans Memorial Avenue in Northwest Houston at about 7: 30 am

Family members identified the victim as Benigno Campos Salamanca, a father of six, who was on his way to work when he was caught by a masked man armed with a pistol in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

The suspect and the victim allegedly had an altercation before the masked man shot him in the stomach.

Campos Salamanca died at the scene, according to officials.

The suspect fled the scene before the Police reached the apartment complex.

Officials reported that witnesses said the suspect ran and got into a white four-door vehicle. Relatives of Campos Salamanca told investigators that he had received death threats a few weeks ago, but no further details were released.
