Univision and Telemundo compete night after night for the preference of the Hispanic public. Since last week, Carlos Ponce premiered on Telemundo a hot new reality show titled “Por Amor o Por Dinero”. The program intersects with his wife’s Karina Banda (“Enamorándonos USA”) which airs on UniMás, Univision’s sister network.
Although both programs have a completely different format, the objective of both is the same – look for pairs. Karina has just joined as the main host of “Enamorándonos USA” next to Rafael Araneda after leaving by Ana Patricia Gámez . The public loves Karina and the program has a good audience, being that it is not the main channel of Univision since UniMás has less reach at the national level.
This last piece of information is important since, despite the fact that UniMás has less reach at the national level, “Enamorándonos USA” already beats “Por Amor o Por Dinero” which is on the main Telemundo network during prime time. Despite the fact that the show hosted by Carlos premiered well, in the following days the rating has fallen ugly and could not be retrieved.
While “La Casa de los Famosos” scored more than 1 million viewers daily in its two-hour broadcast, “ For Love or For Money ”has not been able to continue with that trend.
On Wednesday 24 of November, it was possible to magnify that the audience is not doing well when “For Love or For Money” marked 811 thousand in total and 187 thousand in the demo. This last number is the audience of the adult segment between 18 and 49 years of age, the most important for advertisers .
That same day, “Falling in love with USA” achieved 793 thousand in total and 268 thousand in the demo, easily beating Telemundo in the specialized segment. It is worth mentioning that that same day, Univision broadcast a soccer game, but here the affected party was Telemundo rather than UniMás.
For now, the queen in love shows she is Karina Banda.
